Fathom Events and Sing Out, Louise! Productions announced on January 5 that, back by popular demand, Allegiance will return to select theaters nationwide for an encore presentation at 12:55 p.m. on Sunday, February 19, a significant date in American history that is recognized as the Day of Remembrance in the Japanese American community. The date marks the 75th anniversary of President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s signing of Executive Order 9066. In the wake of the bombing of Pearl Harbor by Japan, the order targeted Japanese Americans as threats to national security and gave the U.S. military the right to send anyone of Japanese ancestry, including American citizens, to internment camps. As a result, more than 120,000 men, women, and children were incarcerated on American soil during World War II.
Fathom Events reports that the encore will have an exclusive intro from Takei, who was interned as a child, and bonus content from show insiders after the feature presentation.
